Sorrento, Italy
was the main R.A.F. Rest Camp for personnel in 205 Group. Most crews
would have spent a leave there, enjoying some decent food and clean
beds with sheets. Many crews stayed in the Hotel Minerva which is
shown in the contemporary postcard below
Most aircrew enjoyed their stay in the hotel and almost everyone bought a souvenir of their stay in Sorrento - carved boxes and other crafts which were sent back to the U.K.
One wag from 150 Squadron, who will remain unidentified in case the present owners of the Minerva are still looking for cutlery, brought back this souvenir.
