150 Squadron at Amendola Airfield, Italy, March 1944

(photo: Bill Baker)

This photo of 150 Squadron shows the entire squadron including ground crew and staff. The O/C of the Squadron W/C "Bill" Morris is shown centre smoking a pipe, To his left is the Squadron Adjutant, F/Lt. Laurie Hodgson. To F/Lt. Hodgson's left is S/L "Barney" Barnett, the leader of "B" Flight and one of the few -if not the only -Flight leader in the RAF to not be a pilot - he was an Observer. To the right of W/C Morris is S/L "Boxy" Boxwell. leader of "A" Flight and often substitute Squadron Commander between postings.

The dog being held by "Bill" Skehill in the front row belonged to F/Lt. "Aggie" Weston, the engineering Officer, and is found in all of the squadron shots.

By cross referencing several sources we have ascertained that this photo was taken on March 6, 1944. Interestingly, by this time W/C Morris had become a Group Capatain and C/O of 330 Wing. W/C Erin Walker had yet to take command and S/L Boxwell was Acting C/O of 150 Squadron.

Anyone interested in a full list of names for this picture should e-mail me. It is not complete but maybe you could help.
